1. Starting at the top left corner then moving diagonally down to the bottom right of the page. So placing your Logo in the upper left corner will connect your visitor to you company or brand right away.

2. Left side Navigation below your logo. Be sure to use clear labels to help your visitors to quickly find the content they are looking for.

3. Always place your most important content "above the fold" so visitors do not have to scroll down to view. The fold typically is below your main content and above your footer, but must be visible when the page loads for the first time.

The Easier the Better - Your site visitors should be able to find any content on your site within a few simple clicks. Be cautious when using fancy pop-out or drop-down menus on your site.

Require no scrolling on important content - Make sure that visitors never have to scroll horizontally to view your most important content. If you are not able to fit all of your content on your homepage, be sure that the most important content is still visible without having to scroll.

Don't forget to Ask for the Sale - A clear call to action is one of the most overlooked and vital components on a small business website. Make sure that every page has a brief, but convincing sales pitch that includes your contact information. You can also use a lead form that offers a free consultation, white paper or other resource that provides incentives for visitors to submit their contact information.
